No Hands, No Problem

When it comes down to success, a person do not have to a degree or any school certificate to get to that success.  Jessica Ruiz is a living testimony of that success.  This Philly make-up artist has proven that all dreams are possible. She has proven that as long as a person has a dream, the “impossible” does not exist.  She has proven that a person can beat the odds against them.   Jessica Ruiz was born with a disease called arthrogryposis.  She was unable to have full movement with her arms and legs. Throughout school, she had to deal with bullying.  By dealing with the painful bullying in school,  Jessica decided to fight back.  She decided to fight back by using make-up.  Jessica thought that make-up will build up her confidence and self-esteem.  She first started out with eyeliner and massacre.  She put the eyeliner and massacre in her left hand and angled her head to apply on the make-up.  As soon as Jessica start to do her own make-up, her peers seem to notice her talent. Despite the fact that the horrific bullying did not stop, Jessica’s peers did see her much more different. When she got to high school, one of Jessica’s friends wanted her to do her make-up for graduation.  For Jessica, this was a piece of cake.  After doing an incredible job on her friend's make-up for graduation, Jessica got the confidence to make make-up artistry a career for herself.  Jessica had a big dream but, it was not so easy to make it come true.  She would apply for beauty schools and they would all reject her.  Some would not like the fact that she holds her make-up brushes in her mouth.

One beauty school was actually very cruel to Jessica by shredding her school application in her face and asking her sister to apply for the school instead.  Despite the rejections and cruelty towards some of the schools, Jessica still kept fighting for the dream.  She was not going to let others stop her from her destiny.  When Jessica found out about YouTube beauty tutorials, she took her make-up talent even more further.  She would look at many tutorials on YouTube with no problem.  She would mainly practice her make-up talents on her sister.  After learning a lot from YouTube, Jessica would sometimes do other's make-up for free.  She was so  great with her talent,  that she was able to work as a make-up artist for fashion shows. Jessica is so fabulous with her talent, that she was able to quit her day job and do make-up  artistry as a career.  Jessica is now a successful make-up artist.  She still has others judging her for her arthrogryposis disease. Some people would either not feel comfortable about Jessica doing their make-up or just be plain out rude towards her.  Still, Jessica would not let this bother her.  She would still do an incredible job as a make-up artist despite how everyone feels about it.  Jessica Ruiz is now a talent make-up artist with an incredible gift.  Of what other make-up artists can do with a make-up brush with their hands, she can do it better with her mouth. Jessica has proven by having a little bit of confidence, any dream can come true.
